LEWISVILLE, Texas -- Texas-based eVTOL developer Astro Aerospace is teaming up with Germany's Kasaero GmbH as it continues advancements on its electronic takeoff and landing vehicles.

Kasaero, headquartered in Stuttgart, specializes in lightweight design, composites and certification. The company has previously supported electronic aviation projects for NASA, e-Genius, Solar Flight, Dornier Seastar and M&D Flugzeugbau.

Its attentions now turn to Astro's "PassengerDrone Version 2.0" and "CargoDrone Version 1.0", which would provide automated air services in urban areas.

Kasaero's experience in certifications will play a key role in the partnership, given the evolving role of mainstream autonomous aircraft in the world's skies.

"At Kasaero we are used to combining our design and production knowledge with our certification knowledge for the benefit of a swift project progress," said Kasaero founder Karl Kaser. "Our certification specialists are eager to enter into the relationship with Astro Aerospace in this new field of drone certification and operation, where guideines are not yet known, and to contribute with our certification experience in the development of these new rules and regulations."

Kasaero is also working with Paterson Composites, which will build Astro's two upcoming aircraft.
