WASHINGTON - Former pilot and Delta Air Lines executive Steve Dickson is on track for a smooth confirmation to be FAA administrator, although he may have to navigate a few tricky questions at a hearing today, reports Sam Mintz for Politico.

May 15, 2019 - The Intelligent Aerospace take: Dickson, who most recently served as Delta's senior vice president of flight operations, is an Air Force Academy graduate and USAF officer where he served as an F-15 fighter pilot. At Delta, here he worked for 27 years, Dickson was charged with overseeing flight operations, as well as pilot training, standards, staffing, and scheduling as well as technical support. He retired from the company October 1, 2018. The nominee to head the FAA has a strong background in the aviation industry and will likely receive little push back according to pundits as he sits through Senate confirmation hearings today. Â
