Canadian North unveils its high-tech 737NG full-flight simulator

From mastering flight deck procedures, to performing a variety of flying scenarios, this simulator serves as a tool for pilots to develop and hone their skills.

KANATA, Ontario - Commercial carrier Canadian North in Kanta, Ontario has introduced its new CAE 7000XR Boeing 737NG Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) at a 30,000 square foot training facility at Edmonton International Airport.

During the opening event on July 17, 2024, Canadian North's Vice-President of Flight Operations Aaron Speer and Chief Financial Officer Nick Purich were joined by officials from Edmonton International Airport, CAE, and EFC Developments. Attendees included Alberta's Minister of Technology and Innovation Nate Glubish, Minister of Indigenous Relations Rick Wilson, Edmonton-Wetaskiwin MP Mike Lake, Leduc County Deputy Mayor Glenn Belozer, and other government and industry figures. Maina Manniapik, a respected elder, performed a ceremonial lighting of a Qulliq and provided a blessing for the facility.

This new flight simulator enhances the Canadian aviation sector by providing additional B737NG training capacity, meeting the increasing demand for pilots. The Canadian North facility, featuring the latest CAE-built 737NG FFS, allows pilots to train and maintain proficiency domestically. The simulator is crucial for pilots to practice flight deck procedures, emergency checklists, and various flying scenarios.
