GE Aerospace and Lilium partner to enhance safety for electric air taxis
LAS VEGAS - GE Aerospace in Cincinnati and electric aircraft manufacturer Lilium in Munich announced a partnership focused on developing flight data management solutions to enhance safety for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The collaboration will combine GE’s Event Measurement System (EMS) platform with Lilium’s analytics technology to create a scalable safety framework for eVTOL operators.
The partnership will integrate EMS into Lilium’s POWER-ON aftermarket service, providing customers with access to operational data and insights. Lilium’s eVTOL aircraft, currently in testing and demonstration phases globally, are expected to reach customers by 2026.

"Together with Lilium, we’re bringing together OEM-level flight data monitoring and quality assurance capabilities of EMS with Lilium’s eVTOL jet-related analytics platform to establish a robust safety foundation for the eVTOL industry."

Lilium Vice President Dominique Decard added, "We’re thrilled to partner with GE Aerospace to ensure that Lilium Jet operators have industry-leading comprehensive safety data at their fingertips. Flight data monitoring at a fleetwide level is a key component of our aftermarket services."
As part of the collaboration, GE and Lilium will establish a Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) or Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) program to oversee eVTOL safety across fleets. The program will offer a voluntary option for Lilium’s customers. Currently, EMS is used by more than 60 airlines and 500 business jet operators worldwide.
Lilium’s Fleet Optimizer platform will work in tandem with GE’s EMS to analyze data from Lilium’s aircraft as eVTOL technology moves closer to commercial use.
