FAA seeks source for COTS satellite telecom multiplexers

WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a market survey to identify potential sources capable of supplying commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) satellite telecommunications multiplexers. The request seeks statements of interest and capabilities from businesses of all sizes interested in providing the required equipment.

The FAA is seeking 28 units of the MEMOTEC SDM9140E-39 SDM9140E satellite router, including SDM-9140E chassis with a 90-264 VAC power supply, 47-63 Hz single power supply, and one DSP SDM9140E. The routers must include standard software options, a USA-compatible AC cord, a USB-to-RJ-45M connection, standard mounting brackets, and a standard two-year hardware warranty.

Additionally, the FAA requires 28 MEMOTEC 161-1430-000 SDM9140 Quad E&M Interface Cards, which support -48V to +48V DC, along with 14 MEMOTEC 161-1452-000 SDM9140 Quad FXO Interface Cards and 14 MEMOTEC 161-1426-000 SDM9140 Quad FXS Interface Cards.

Other requested components include 28 MEMOTEC 150-0031-010 SDM8400 Base Units, which feature eight serial ports and one LAN interface, as well as a variety of cables: 56 MEMOTEC 161-0897-001 HD26M-to-DB25F EIA232 DCE BXD cables, 28 MEMOTEC 161-0900-001 HD26F-to-DB25M cables, and 56 MEMOTEC 161-0899-001 HD26M-to-DB25F EIA530 DCE BXD cables. The also includes one MEMOTEC SERV-ANN-1 Annual Service Charge for phone support and assistance within Memotec’s standard operating hours for the first year following purchase.

The FAA emphasizes that this market survey is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a request for proposals. The agency is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals at this time, nor will it reimburse vendors for any costs incurred in preparing responses. The FAA has not yet determined whether the procurement will be open to all businesses or set aside for small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, or socially and economically disadvantaged firms certified under the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Program.
