DOHA, Qatar - Qatar Airways Cargo has introduced TechLift, a dedicated air cargo service designed to meet the growing transportation needs of the semiconductor industry. The service aims to enhance logistics for semiconductor components, manufacturing equipment, and related materials across industries such as consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, and automotive technology.

Mark Drusch, chief officer of cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, emphasized the critical role semiconductors play in modern technology. "Nearly every aspect of modern-day life relies on semiconductors—from smartphones to data centers and cloud computing, to automotive, electric vehicles, and industrial applications, and now, to an ever-increasing extent, AI and the Internet of Things," Drusch said.

TechLift incorporates specialized handling protocols, including shock absorption for ground and aircraft transport, prioritized loading, and real-time monitoring. The service can also be combined with Qatar Airways Cargo’s AirPlus Solutions, which offer temperature-controlled storage, enhanced cargo priority, and continuous shipment tracking.

Qatar Airways Cargo has also invested in new infrastructure to support TechLift, including shock-absorbing transport dollies at its Doha hub. The airline claims its system allows for a minimum 90-minute connection time and rapid ramp transfers.

"For all these applications to function correctly, semiconductors must be delivered in pristine condition," Drusch said. "At Qatar Airways Cargo, we have perfected every aspect of the transportation for semiconductor products to leave absolutely nothing to chance."
