Rugged long-range RF-over-fiber systems for satellite communications (SATCOM) introduced by ETL Systems

MADLEY, England – ETL Systems Ltd. in Madley, England, is introducing the next evolution of StingRay, the company's RF-over-fiber range with additional functionality and flexibility for satellite operations.

RF over fiber is a dependable and reliable way of moving satellite communications (SATCOM) signals over long distances than standard coaxial cable. With fiber modules that enable antennas and IRD modems to link from 100 meters to more than 500 kilometers, this is an efficient way to transport IF, L and C-band transmit and receive satellite signals.

The RF over fiber products will be incorporated into ETL's next-generation Genus platform that will offer increased modularity and flexibility for ground stations, as well as medium-Earth-orbit and low-Earth-orbit satellites.

Within the Genus platform, ETL's StingRay long-range RF over fiber products cover frequency bands including C-Band links operating over 500 MHz to 6,725 MHz. The StingRay system offers manual gain control (MGC) as well as fixed gain and automatic gain control (AGC) modes.

In addition, the platform can house StingRay modules alongside ETL's Falcon frequency converters, ALTO amplifiers, switches, splitters, and even small RF matrices and routers within the same indoor or outdoor chassis.
