NEW YORK, N.Y., 1 March 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the Electron Dynamic Devices business of The Boeing Company on February 28, 2005.
EDD is a supplier of space and defense products that include Linearized Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers, Space Traveling Wave Tubes, Military Traveling Wave Tubes, passive microwave devices, and electric propulsion. Under the terms of the transaction, EDD will continue to provide Boeing with space and defense components.
The new company, renamed L-3 Communications - Electron Technologies, Inc., is expected to generate sales of approximately $75 million for the year ending December 31, 2005, and to be accretive to the company's results.
Headquartered in Torrance, Calif., the acquired business is a recognized market supplier in the design, manufacture and sale of space-qualified high technology components and subsystems used in satellites. The company designs and produces space-qualified passive microwave devices, traveling wave tubes (TWTs), amplifiers and electric propulsion and radio frequency (RF) products utilized in communications satellites, manned space programs and key commercial and defense systems.
The company serves the worldwide satellite and satellite equipment market, including deep-space exploration spacecraft, with a broad military and commercial customer base that includes Department of Defense organizations, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, as well as prime contractors and OEMs.
