HERNDON, Va., 23 Aug. 2005. Engineers from GigaBeam Corp. in Herndon, Va., are set to design technology for a millimeter wave communications system for the U.S. Navy.

GigaBeam will do this work under terms of an agreement Epsilon Lambda Electronics Corp. in Geneva, Ill.

"The high-data-rate technology developed by GigaBeam represents a quantum leap in wireless communications capability," says Bob Knox, president and chief executive officer of Epsilon Lambda.

"The commercialization pioneered by GigaBeam of previously unaffordable millimeter wave circuitry opens new applications in both the military and commercial markets," Knox says.

GigaBeam builds wireless point-to-point communications that operate in the licensed 71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz radio spectrum bands. GigaBeam equipment operates at multi-gigabit-per-second speeds.
