April 27, 2013
RICHMOND, B.C., 27 April 2013. MacDonald, Dettwiler, and Associates (MDA; TSX:MDA), a global communications and information company, won contracts totaling $3.2 million (Canadian) with the Government of Canada's Department of National Defence (DND) to provide operations for the east and west coast RADARSAT-2 ground systems.
RADARSAT-2 ground systems support the deliverables under the Polar Epsilon project. Polar Epsilon is a broad-area surveillance system MDA delivered to DND in 2012.
The Polar Epsilon surveillance system delivers space-based day and night, all-weather maritime surveillance information of Canada's Arctic, Atlantic, and Pacific oceans and includes global high-resolution surveillance capabilities to support deployed Canadian Forces.
MDA engineers will provide operational support under this contract until March 2014.
