Gentex boosts expertise in motion- and head-tracking technology with acquisition of InterSense

Officials of Gentex Corp. in Carbondale, Pa., which specializes in helmet-mounted displays, communications systems, helmets, and eye protection, are enhancing their company's expertise in motion-tracking technology with their acquisition of InterSense Inc. in Billerica, Mass. Terms of the acquisition were not released.

Officials of Gentex Corp. in Carbondale, Pa., which specializes in helmet-mounted displays, communications systems, helmets, and eye protection, are enhancing their company's expertise in motion-tracking technology with their acquisition of InterSense Inc. in Billerica, Mass. Terms of the acquisition were not released.The acquisition of InterSense, which develops MEMS-based hybrid motion tracking systems, expands Gentex’s offerings in precision motion tracking, head-tracking technology, and situational awareness capabilities in military and civil applications, Gentex officials say. MEMS stands for micro-electro-mechanical systems.A primary aim of Gentex's acquisition of InterSense is to boost Gentex's capabilities in simulation, augmented reality and helmet-mounted technology, explains L. Peter Frieder, president and chief executive officer of Gentex Corp. InterSense develops inertial and hybrid motion tracking systems that enable precise human motion tracking for training and operations.
