High-resolution hyperspectral imaging sensor for foliage surveillance introduced by Headwall
FITCHBURG, Mass., 11 Aug. 2014. Headwall Photonics in Fitchburg, Mass., is introducing the High Resolution Hyperspec instrument for high-resolution spectral measurements of 0.1 nanometers over spectral ranges that yield indicators of vegetative fluorescence to measure plant health.
The hyperspectral imager is designed to analyze chlorophyll fluorescence emissions at extremely high resolution. High throughput gives remote-sensing researchers, persistent-surveillance experts, and farmers data from which to make environmental decisions.
The sensor is based on Headwall's all-reflective concentric electro-optical design that uses high diffraction-efficiency gratings for simultaneous high spatial and spectral resolution. The device also offers low stray light and minimized smile and keystone distortion.
Headwall's all-reflective approach also means no transmissive optics, which makes the overall package not only more for space applications but lighter as well.
