NASA installs BAE Systems' radiation-hardened computers and solid-state recorders on STEREO spacecraft
MANASSAS, Va., 31 October 2006. NASA has employed BAE Systems' radiation-hardened computers and solid-state recorders on its Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) spacecraft, which is on a mission to study the effects of the sun's solar flares. Two identical STEREO spacecraft were launched from Cape Canaveral, Fla., on Oct. 25, on the same rocket. The two satellites will provide scientists a three-dimensional view of the sun from different orbits.
