DALLAS, 24 April 2006. DRS Sensors & Targeting Systems - Infrared Technologies Division, a unit of DRS Technologies Inc., has launched its E3500S uncooled infrared engine. According to the company, the E3500S is the first of its kind to offer a split-board configuration and VOx microbolometer uncooled infrared detector technology.
DRS's E3500S engine provides 320x240-pixel resolution and 25 micron pitch with a 60Hz frame rate. Weighing less than 101 grams), it offers an "instant on" capability and operation over a -40 degree to +50 degree Celsius temperature range. An athermalized lens option is available.
RS-232 serial digital control and RS-170 with digital video outputs provide flexible interface for a range of applications.
DRS's Infrared Technologies Division, maker of focal plane array technology for uncooled and cooled thermal imaging systems, provides electro-optical solutions for military soldier systems and airborne, maritime, and commercial applications supporting industrial, security, public safety, and firefighting markets.
