Multi-wavelength midwave IR sensor for missile-warning systems introduced by Sofradir

CHA-TENAY-MALABRY, France, 30 March 2010. Sofradir in Cha-tenay-Malabry, France, is introducing the Altair dual-band midwave-midwave infrared (MW-MW IR) detector for missile warning systems.
Altair operates in two bandwidths, 3-4 and 4-5 microns, to identify objects and reduce the number of false threats identified. The infrared sensor also enables precise temperature measurement of targets.
Users can choose the band most suited to conditions, such as high humidity or high temperatures, using one piece of equipment. Users also can fuse or compare the image of both bandwidths to improve target identification. Images are naturally registered, which means the two color dots that make up each pixel can focus on the same location at the same time.
