BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Gogo Business Aviation in Broomfield, Colo. announced a collaboration with Duncan Aviation in White Plains, N.Y. to pursue a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Gogo 5G in-flight connectivity (IFC) on Bombardier Learjet 40/45/70/75 aircraft.
Gogo's 5G network utilizes unlicensed spectrum in the 2.4GHz band, combined with a proprietary modem and beamforming technology to enhance signal quality. This configuration enables the network to support various spectrum types and frequency bands commonly used in 5G services worldwide, ensuring high compatibility and performance across a wide range of devices and applications. The system is designed to deliver not just faster and more reliable internet connectivity, but also an improved user experience, facilitating activities such as streaming, gaming, and HD video calls during flights.
Gogo's 5G offering, the company says, will deliver an enhanced IFC experience in North America to this popular series of midsize aircraft, providing more speed, capacity, live experiences, and the ability to connect more devices for crew and passengers.
"We're excited to collaborate with Gogo on this Learjet project," said Houston Satellite Manager Mark Winter. "This platform is one of our most requested for this size aircraft, and this STC will be the first for the Learjet that incorporates the LX5 and MB13 antennas for 5G access."
