KIRKLAND, Quebec – Embedded computing designers at Interface Concept in Quimper, France, needed blind-mate optical interconnects for a generation of 3U form factor VPX computer boards. They found their solution from Reflex Photonics Inc. in Kirkland, Quebec.
Reflex Photonics officials say the company's LightCONEX LC 150G (12TRX) blind mate optical interconnect will power a generation of 3U form factor VPX cards developed by Interface Concept.
The LightCONEX LC 150G is a full-duplex active blind-mate optical interconnect with 24-lane transceivers. It provides bandwidth in excess of 150 gigabits per second. Based on the OpenVPX standards, the LightCONEX frees up critical embedded computing board space by integrating the optical transceiver into the board edge connector.
The compact 150G full-duplex (12+12) 12.5 gigabits per second/lane LightABLE LL optical transceivers are incorporated to the LightCONEX interconnect as per the VITA 66.5 forthcoming standard.
The VPX backplane connector, also part of the LightCONEX solution, has a floating head mechanism that ensures optical mating meeting VITA 66.0 requirements. The rugged construction of these connectors ensures error-free data transmission over all 24 lanes under severe shock, vibration, and temperature extremes, Reflex Photonics officials say.
