Intersil radiation-hardened 14-bit single-chip A/D converter for space applications introduced by Renesas
TOKYO – Renesas Electronics Corp. in Tokyo is introducing the Intersil brand ISL73141SEH high-performance single-chip radiation-hardened A/D converter for space applications.
The ISL73141SEH is a 14-Bit, 1-megasample-per-second successive-approximation-register that offers dynamic and static performance including signal-to-noise ratio, effective number of bits, integral non-linearity and differential non-linearity.
The A/D converter resets after every sample, clearing any errors that result from a single event upset due to heavy ion radiation during space flight.
The ISL73141SEH is one of the key signal-path building blocks in long duration geosynchronous and geostationary Earth orbit communication satellites and manned spacecraft, including lunar space missions.

By delivering dynamic and static performance, the device captures real-world analog transmissions and converts them for processing in the digital domain. The ISL73141SEH A/D converter is one of seven integrated circuits to form a complete sensor interface signal chain solution that accelerates telemetry, tracking, and control and flight computer system development.
The other integrated circuit components are rad-hard temperature sensor, multiplexer, quad op amp, A/D converter driver, LDO, and voltage reference.
The ISL73141SEH is characterized resists the effects of total-dose radiation as strong as 75 kilorads, and linear energy transfer to 86 MeV cm2/mg for single event effects.
