Rugged LCD monitors for aircraft, ships, submarines, and land-based military applications introduced by EIZO

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – EIZO Rugged Solutions Inc. in Altamonte Springs, Fla., is introducing three commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) rugged liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors for use in aircraft, surface ships, submarines, and land-based military applications.

The EIZO Talon RGD3202W (32-inch), RGD2802 (28-inch), and RGD2102W (21.5-inch) LCD monitors are for displaying detailed information in naval displays, target tracking, mission-control centers, and airborne surveillance operations.

The displays are ready for deployment in extreme environments with ruggedized features such as sunlight readability, water resistance with IP65, built-in heaters, and conformal coating to protect components.

The displays are tested to resist the effects of vibration, shock, altitude, and extreme temperatures to comply with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.

The RGD3202W 32-inch model has 3840 by 2160) resolution for displaying detailed rugged applications in full across a spacious screen. It also supports simultaneous display from more than one input so multiple applications can be viewed on a single screen, providing operators with a centralized view of important information.

The RGD2802 is a 28-inch square model with 2084 by 2084-pixel resolution, and is for military and mobile air traffic control centers for displaying radar and other high-resolution visual data. The square format and customizable housing make it suitable to replace existing consoles.

The RGD2102W is a 21.5-inch HD model with 1920 by 1080-pixel resolution with optional night vision imaging system for environments using night-vision equipment. It complies with MIL-STD-3009.

Talon monitors are custom made to fit specific requirements, and offer LED backlight customization, projected capacitive (PCAP) and analog resistive touchscreen options, custom housing, interfaces, image enhancement technology, optical bonding, and increased temperature endurance.

Customizable interfaces include 3G-SDI, DisplayPort, D-Sub, DVI, HDMI, RGB, USB, and serial communication. Conformal coating of the monitors' circuit boards helps protect components in harsh environments. Options include sunlight readability, heater, and image enhancement.
