Officials of dataMate Products in Chicago, a division of Methode Electronics, are expanding the company’s line of small-form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers for Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and InfiniBand applications. The perimeter of dataMate’s four-port SFP electromagnetic interference (EMI) cage is a one-piece construction of a stamped copper alloy. The walls between ports are composed of this same copper alloy and are soldered to the perimeter and mechanically locked. This kind of construction provides tight port-to-port spacing, which helps make the most of port density. Press-fit pins enable designers to mount the cage securely to a printed circuit board without solder. The four-port cage is available in two circuit-board configurations, including one compatible with belly-to-belly applications. It also is available with light pipes to display LED indicators from the host board to the chassis bezel. For more information contact the company online at www.methode.com.
