ALISO VIEJO, Calif., 4 Aug. 2016. Microsemi Corp. in Aliso Viejo, Calif., is introducing the RTG4 development kit to go with the company's RTG4 PROTO space-qualified field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).

The development kit for radiation-tolerant FPGAs is for the development of applications such as data transmission, serial connectivity, bus interface, and high speed designs for satellites and manned spacecraft.

The kit includes Microsemi's RTG4 PROTO FPGAs for prototyping and design validation while offering a reprogrammable prototyping solution for timing and power characteristics in space flight units. The development kit provides references to evaluate and adopt RTG4 technology quickly, without the need to build a test board and assemble the device onto the board.

The RTG4 development kit board has a RT4G150 device offering more than 150,000 logic elements in a ceramic package with 1,657 pins. Its reprogrammable flash configuration helps make prototyping fast and easy.

The kit also has Microsemi's Libero SoC Design Suite for designing with Microsemi's radiation-tolerant FPGAs. The suite integrates industry standard Synopsys SynplifyPro synthesis and Mentor Graphics ModelSim simulation with constraints management, debug capabilities, and secure production programming support.

In addition to satellite applications, Microsemi's RTG4 FPGAs are for space launch vehicles, planetary orbiters and landers, and deep space probes. Target customers include designers, program managers, system architects and component engineers serving the space market.
