FARNBOROUGH, England, 8 July 2016. Starting today the staff of Intelligent Aerospace and Military & Aerospace Electronics will be on the ground at two popular aerospace industry events: Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford, Gloucestershire, England, and Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England.

RIAT starts today and runs through Sunday, while Farnborough is next week from Monday to Thursday.

"At RIAT and Farnborough, I have the opportunity to witness innovation in action," says Courtney Howard, Intelligent Aerospace chief editor and Military & Aerospace Electronics executive editor.

"I will be covering lots of ground, particularly in Farnborough, where I will be visiting with engineers and executives from high-tech aerospace organizations, touring new and legacy aircraft in the static display, watching the incredible capabilities of commercial and military pilots and jets in the flying display, as well as meeting new friends and reconnecting with older ones," Howard says.

This year, the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II stealth military fighter jet is making its United Kingdom airshow debut -- first at RIAT, then at Farnborough. Also of note, The Boeing Co. is celebrating its 100th anniversary, or centennial, during Farnborough.

The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the world's largest military air show, held in support of The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust. The show typically attracts 150,000 to 160,000 spectators and takes place July 8 through 10 at RAF Fairford station in Gloucestershire, England.

Farnborough is a global showcase for the aerospace industry that attracts an international audience. For manufacturers, it's an opportunity to demonstrate their aircraft and engines to prospective customers, while for suppliers to the industry, having a presence at the show allows them to showcase their products and services to a targeted audience, says Shaun Ormrod, CEO of Farnborough International Ltd. Farnborough 2016 trade days are being held July 11 through 15; Farnborough 2016 public days are July 16 and 17.
