6U VME embedded computing board for unmanned vehicles and avionics introduced by Aitech
CHATSWORTH, Calif., 4 May 2016. Aitech Defense Systems Inc. in Chatsworth, Calif., is introducing the C164 rugged 6U VME single board computer for embedded computing applications in missile launch control, unmanned vehicles, user interface command and control, process control, and command and data handling computers.
The board has the Intel 5th generation Core i7 processor (Broadwell), and enables offers, legacy platforms access to in high performance data processing with quad-core functions working as quickly as 2.6 GHz with 6 megabytes of last level cache.
The computer board combines onboard memory resources such as a large DDR3L memory, SATA Flash mass storage, and dual BIOS boot flash, with several I/O interfaces.
The board's I/O includes as many as eight USB 2.0/3.0 interfaces, two each of SATA 2.0 and CANBus ports, as many as four Gigabit Ethernet ports, four RS-232/422/485 serial interfaces, and eight discrete S.E. or differential I/Os. The C164 also has two DVI/HDMI and RGBHV video outputs and a stereo audio in + out interface.

The Core i7 CPU has a Lynx Point QM87 platform controller hub (PCH), coupled with an HD Graphics 5600 and an integrated 2D/3D graphics controller that provides RGBHV and HDMI/DVI outputs.
The board offers two industry-standard PMC/XMC slots, and is pinout compatible with Aitech's C163 (Haswell platform) and earlier Core2 Duo-based C160 computer boards for easy, plug-and-play technology insertion upgrades.
The VITA 47-compatible computer board operates in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and at altitudes to 70,000 feet. Conduction- and air-cooled versions are available, as are commercial, rugged, and military configurations.
On-board windowed and standard watchdog timers, a real-time clock, a temperature sensor, and elapsed time recorder all help monitor board functions.

For secure data encryption, the C164 can be equipped with Intel's Trusted Platform Module (TPM), a hardware-based security device that addresses the growing concern of boot process integrity and offers improved data protection.
TPM protects the system at start-up by ensuring it is tamper-free before releasing system control to the operating system. A TPM device provides secured data storage, such as encryption security keys and related passwords as well as data encryption and hash functions.
