XMC embedded computing module for radar and software-defined radio introduced by Pentek
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J., 22 Jan. 2013. Pentek Inc. in Upper Saddle River, N.J., is introducing model 71641 Express Mezzanine Card (XMC) module for wideband radar and software-defined radio (SDR) applications.
The model 71641 embedded computing module can digitize one 12-bit channel at 3.6 GHz, or two channels at 1.8 GHz, and comes preconfigured with a programmable one- or two-channel digital downconverter loaded into the onboard Xilinx Virtex-6 field-programmable gate array (FPGA).
"The model 71641 is designed to acquire wide bandwidth radar and communications signals so they can be efficiently delivered and processed," says Rodger Hosking, vice president of Pentek.
The Virtex-6 FPGA has a Pentek-designed digital downconverter IP core. The core that supports single- and dual-channel modes, accepting data samples from the -A/D-) converter at the 3.6 GHz rate in single-channel mode or 1.8 GHz in two-channel operation.
Each digital downconverter has an independent 32-bit tuning frequency. In single channel mode, digital downconverter decimation can be programmed to 8x, 16x or 32x. In dual channel mode, both channels share the same decimation rate, programmable to 4x, 8x or 16x.
The decimating filter for each digital downconverter accepts a set of user-supplied 16-bit coefficients. Pentek's ReadyFlow board support package for Windows, Linux, or VxWorks operating systems includes C-callable libraries, drivers, and example code for easy access to all of the model 71641 features.
