Interface boards to link PMC and PCI slots to military computers introduced by Sabtech
YORBA LINDA, Calif., 3 Feb. 2013. Sabtech Industries in Yorba Linda, Calif.,is introducing the Falcon family of PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) and PCI interface boards to connect embedded computing with PMC and PCI bus slots to military computers and peripherals over a serial bus as defined in MIL-STD-1553B.
The new interface board family, introduced this past week at the AFCEA West conference and trade show in San Diego, consists of the Falcon PMC and the Falcon PCI models. The PCI version also features an optional MIL-STD-1397C Type A, B, C, or H interface.
Sabtech's Falcon PMC 1553 provides single or dual MIL-STD-1553B channels on one PMC. On dual-channel models, both channels can operate concurrently with full performance and programmability.
Additional features include software controlled bus coupling; compliance to PCI 2.2 for plug and play; dual-redundant bus connections; PCI master and slave operation; field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology; interrupt, PIO, and DMA operation; and operation at 33 or 66 MHz.
The Falcon PCI model features independent MIL-STD-1553B and NTDS Parallel Type A/B/C/H interfaces on one board, and enables one PCI card to communicate simultaneously over Link-11 (MIL-STD-1397C) and Link-16 (MIL-STD-1553B).
The Falcon PCI comes with an application programming interface (API) library and a device driver that integrates support for the 1553 and NTDS channels.
Connecting to military computers and peripherals with MIL-STD-1397C Type A, B, C or H interfaces, the NTDS interface features 64K words (128K bytes) of RAM for message I/O buffering; software-selectable NTDS Type; passive tap capability with timestamp; internal loopback testing without disconnecting NTDS cables; and software-compatibility with Sabtech's family of Swift PCI, PCI Express, PMC, and CompactPCI boards.
Falcon device driver software is available for the most commonly used operating systems.
