Rugged modular Ethernet switch subsystem for military ships, planes, and vehicles introduced by Curtiss-Wright
SAN DIEGO, 6 March 2011. Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in San Diego is introducing the SwitchBox 684 lightweight rugged modular Ethernet switch subsystem that delivers 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and a choice of four ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet fiber or two ports of 10 Gigabit Ethernet copper interfaces. The SwitchBox 684, based on Curtiss Wright's VPX6-684 FireBlade 6U OpenVPX card, is for building intra-platform networks (IPNs) for aircraft, land vehicles, ships, and submarines. It is housed in a rugged enclosure that weighs 10 pounds and measures 2 by 11 by 11.5 inches.
