Rugged 3U CompactPCI PowerPC-based slave Ethernet diagnosis buffer CPU board offered by MEN Micro
Feb. 17, 2011
AMBLER, Pa. 17 Feb. 2011. MEN Micro Inc. in Ambler, Pa., is introducing the F218 3U CompactPCI PowerPC-based slave CPU board that serves as an Ethernet diagnosis buffer for harsh-environment embedded computing in industrial, transportation, and medical applications. The F218 helps reduce wiring and installation for easy implementation and maintenance. Two Ethernet controllers within the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) enable the host to view the F218 as an Ethernet device, similar to a front connection of two single-board computers via an Ethernet cable. The FPGA enables designers to add user-specific I/O functionality.Built on the PowerPC Power Architecture, the F218’s MPC8314 e300-based core processor operates as fast as 266 MHz. The board has as much as 256 megabytes of soldered DDR2 SDRAM system memory with a bus frequency of 133 MHz, as well as 16 megabytes of Flash. An optional 1 megabyte of non-volatile FRAM is also available.
The card is qualified for operation in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Software support includes VxWorks and Linux, with QNX available. For more information contact MEN Micro online at www.menmicro.com.
