LEESBURG, Va., 8 June 2008.Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in Leesburg, Va., is introducing the 3U CompactPCI PowerPC-based multi-platform mission computer-9350p (MPMC-9350p) and Intel-based MPMC-9350i embedded computer subsystems.

The five-slot embedded computer subsystems come in a sealed chassis with power supply, and a wide range of I/O. Designed for high availability in harsh field conditions, the MPMC-9350p and MPMC-9350i are for space-constrained platforms such as combat vehicles, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The MPMC-9350 is designed to DO-160E environmental conditions for airborne equipment. Circuit cards installed in the 10.72-by-5.11-by-7.62-inch sealed chassis are isolated from external environmental conditions such as humidity, dust, and sand. Cooling is via thermal transfer between the card edge of its conduction-cooled 3U cPCI cards and the chassis's side-walls. A fan sends cooling air across the walls.

Processing in the MPMC-9350p comes from as many as three Freescale 7448 PowerPC-based DCP-124 and DCP-124P single-board computers (SBCs). The DCP-124P peripheral-only processor supports PMC I/O, dual Ethernet channels, a USB 2.0, RS-232, and dual RS-422 ports.

The MPMC-9350i features as many as three Intel Core2 Duo-based DCP-1201 and 1201P SBCs, and runs Windows, Solaris 10, and Wind River GPP Linux 2.6 operating systems. For more information contact Curtiss-Wright online at www.cwcembedded.com.
