SAN JOSE, Calif., 29 Jan. 2012. Military avionics designers at the Lockheed Martin Corp. Mission Systems and Sensors Division (MS2) segment in Owego, N.Y., needed a real-time operating system (RTOS) and software-engineering tools for the United Kingdom Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) radar surveillance aircraft. They found their solution from LynuxWorks Inc. in San Jose, Calif.
Lockheed Martin MS2 engineers chose the LynxOS RTOS and Luminosity Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for the United Kingdom AWACS aircraft, which provides an airborne early warning capability by tracking other aircraft at long ranges in airborne command and control applications and communicating important air-surveillance to commanders on the ground.
The LynxOS hard real-time embedded software operating system works with Linux, POSIX, and UNIX. All its components are designed for determinism and hard real-time performance. LynxOS also has linear scalability that extends to networking applications.
LynxOS includes the latest version of the Luminosity IDE offering powerful development, debug and analysis tools in an Eclipse-based framework for interoperability. Luminosity helps software engineers create, edit, compile, manage, debug, and profile C/C++ embedded and real-time applications and build and debug kernel downloadable images from configurable LynuxWorks operating systems.
