FREMONT, Calif., 1 Feb. 2009.Elma Bustronic in Fremont, Calif., is introducing a 16-channel version of its serializer/deserializer (SerDes) test modules for VPX systems, which enable testing and pre-emphasis of the SerDes signals to ensure signal performance of the system.

The 16-channel SerDes modules plug into VPX backplanes and test the channel compliance. They can test VPX switch and node cards and/or the backplane channels without external equipment or special test fixtures.

The Bustronic SerDes test modules also enable pre-emphasis tuning of VPX cards. The modules allow the user to measure the initial performance of the VPX boards and fine-tune them for optimum performance.

Plugging directly into the backplane/chassis, the modules eliminate the need for SMA connectors, cables, and other measurement hardware. With a USB connection to a laptop or desktop computer, users can create eye diagrams, measure bit error rates (BER), and jitter.

The module kit includes software with a GUI interface. Bustronic can also provide SerDes test modules in other architectures and form factors, including ATCA, VXS, and MicroTCA. For more information contact Elma Bustronic online at www.Bustronic.com.
