ETTLINGEN, Germany, 25 Oct. 2006. Vision Components GmbH in Ettlingen, Germany, is offering the VC4458 smart camera that is particularly suited for high-speed applications such as controlling register marks in the printing industry.
The camera has a maximum frame rate of 200 frames per second (400 frames per second in binning mode), an integrated 1 GHz digital signal processor from Texas Instruments, and has a 1/3-inch charge-coupled device sensor that provides 640-by-480-pixel resolution.
Standard equipment includes RS232 and Ethernet interfaces, an external trigger input that enables jitter-free image recording even at high reading frequencies, and a high-speed encoder interface.
Additionally, the rugged smart cameras feature an SVGA video output, four digital PLC inputs, and four digital outputs. They come with four megabytes of Flash EPROM solid-state memory and 64 megabytes of SDRAM solid-state memory for program and picture storage, which can be optionally extended by a 512-megabyte SD card.
Vision Components GmbH specializes in industrial image processing by developing and selling intelligent, network-compatible real time cameras. The devices operate without an additional PC, making them easy to integrate into industrial facilities.
