MIDDLETON, Wis., 11 Feb. 2010. Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) in Middleton, Wis., is introducing two serial communications interface modules with the Freescale MPC8270 PowerQUICC II processor for general-purpose serial communications.

The XPort1004 multi-protocol four-port serial PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) and XPort1021 multi-protocol eight port CompactPCI module are intelligent communications controllers targeting high-performance and low-cost applications.

The XPort1004 has one Freescale MPC8270 PowerQUICC II processor and four SCCs support RS-232 or RS-422/RS-485 ports, and the XPort1021 has two Freescale MPC8270 PowerQUICC II processors, eight SCCs supporting a broad range of serial protocols, and two front panel serial ports.

Both I/O modules have operating system support for Linux BSP and Wind River VxWorks BSP. For more information contact X-ES online at www.xes-inc.com.
