Electronic interconnect industry sales worldwide are returning to pre-recession levels, IPC says

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., 9 March 2011. Sales in most parts of the electronic interconnect industry worldwide have returned to pre-recession levels, and posted double-digit year-on-year growth in the last quarter of 2010, report market analysts at IPC - the Association Connecting Electronics Industries in Bannockburn, Ill., in the association's winter 2011 quarterly business report, Electronics Industries Market Data Update.Printed circuit board assembly equipment, laminate, electronics manufacturing services, and process consumables were leaders in sales growth in the last quarter of 2010. Electronics industry leading indicators suggest stable growth for 2011, IPC analysts say, pointing out that the recovery cycle is ending, signaling a return to normal growth.The best year-on-year sales growth in the North American electronic interconnect industry in the last quarter of 2010 were printed circuit board assembly equipment, flexible circuits, and the electronics manufacturing industry.

The year 2010 was better than expected economically in most parts of the world, IPC officials say. China overtook Japan to become the second-largest world economy after the United states. Most economies around the world have recovered fully from the 2008-2009 recession, and most electronics industry segments are still experiencing strong but slowing growth.
