Creative Energy Solutions to help Navy develop minesweeping technology based on high-temperature superconductors

PHILADELPHIA, 21 Aug. 2011.High-power electronics experts at Creative Energy Solutions in Wilmington, Del., will help U.S. Navy researchers develop minesweeping technology based on high-temperature superconductors.Officials of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock Division at Philadelphia Naval Base issued a statement Friday indicating the organization that they intend to procure high-temperature superconducting minesweeping technology services from Creative Energy Solutions.Naval researchers in Australia are among the world's first to investigate how high-temperature superconductors can assist with clearing sea-based mines intended to destroy or disable surface ships and submarines. Australia's Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) is using high-temperature superconducting magnet cables that emit powerful electromagnetic waves to fool and prematurely detonate sea mines.
Creative Energy Solutions works with NSWC Carderock on several projects involving fuel cells, power converters, and facility installation. The company operates its Light Residential Laboratory in West Chester, Pa., outside Philadelphia to help augment the NSWC Carderock medium and heavy lab facilities.
The Creative Energy Solutions West Chester, Pa., facility has expertise in Navy power distribution systems, power conversion equipment, super conducting components and systems, and power research lab development to help Navy researchers move toward more-electric solutions for ships, vehicles, and weapons.
NSWC Carderock is the Navy's center of excellence for ships and ship systems, and is the research and development, test and evaluation, engineering, and fleet support organization for the Navy's ships, submarines, military watercraft, and unmanned vehicles.
