HAIFA, Israel, 24 May 2011. Leaders of the Romanian Air Force in Bucharest, Romania, needed advanced avionics and other aircraft electronics for the Romanian fleet of Lockheed-Martin C-130 four-engine turboprop transport aircraft. They found their solution from Elbit Systems Ltd. in Haifa, Israel.Engineers from Elbit (NASDAQ:ESLT) and from Elisra Electronic Systems Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elbit located in Bene Beraq, Israel, will install various types of advanced electronic systems on the Romanian C-130 fleet under terms of $18.6 million contract announced today.Elbit will do the job over the next four years in cooperation with companies in Romania such as IAR BRASOV, Avioane Craiova, and Aerostar. Leading the project will be officials of the Romanian Aeronautical Industry, Elbit officials say. Elbit Systems has been operating in Romania for the past 15 years.
Elbit operates wholly-owned Romanian subsidiaries called Elbit Systeme S.A., A-E Electronics S.A, Elmet International SRL, and Simultec SRL, which have about 400 employees.
