Electronic connectors designer Tyco Electronics to change its name to TE Connectivity Ltd.
BERWYN, Pa., 13 Dec. 2010. Executives at electronic connectors specialist Tyco Electronics Ltd. in Berwyn, Pa., plan to change the company's name to TE Connectivity Ltd. in early 2011 in an attempt to differentiate the company's identity from Tyco International, company officials say.
The name change to TE Connectivity Ltd. is subject to shareholder approval at the company's shareholder meeting in March 2011. "We are changing the name of our company to better reflect the products and solutions that we provide to our customers," says Tom Lynch, chief executive officer of Tyco Electronics (NYSE: TEL). "Many customers and employees around the world already refer to us by the initials 'TE,' which is why we chose to keep that as part of our new name."
