HI-3220: 24-Channel ARINC 429 Data Management IC with Integrated Line Receivers

May 2, 2022
The HI-3220 family is capable of managing, storing and forwarding avionics data between 16 ARINC 429 receive channels and 8 ARINC 429 transmit channels in a tiny 10mm x 10mm footprint. Ideal for multi-channel applications such as data concentrators.

The HI-3220 is a member of Holt’s Data Management and Protocol Bridges family. It is capable of managing, storing and forwarding avionics data between 16 ARINC 429 receive channels and 8 ARINC 429 transmit channels in a tiny 10mm x 10mm footprint. Integrated line receivers and a compact 40 MHz serial peripheral host interface (SPI) save significant amounts of space at such high channel densities, making these devices ideal for multi-channel applications such as data concentrators. An option for 8 receive and 4 transmit channels, HI-3222, is also available in an even smaller, cost effective 7mm x 7mm QFN package footprint. The devices are also capable of RTCA/DO-160G level 3 lightning compliance with external 40kΩ resistors.

This family of devices also contains the HI-3200, an 8-channel ARINC 429 receive, 4-channel ARINC 429 transmit protocol bridge IC capable of automatically re-formatting, re-labeling, re-packetizing and retransmitting data from ARINC 429 receive buses to ARINC 429 transmit buses, as well as from ARINC 429 to ARINC 825 (CAN) or the other way around. The device uses Holt’s HI-3110, a CAN / ARINC 825 protocol IC/transceiver combination to interface directly with the CAN bus.
