CURTISS-WRIGHT CONGRATULATES NORTHROP GRUMMAN ON SUCCESSFUL FIRST FLIGHT OF SECOND MQ-4C TRITON UAS
Next Generation UAS Features Two Curtiss-Wright Subsystems for Systems Management Processing
ASHBURN, Va. - October 16, 2014 – Curtiss-Wright Corporation’s (NYSE: CW) Defense Solutions division applauds Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) on the recent successful first flight of the second MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft system (UAS) built for the U.S. Navy. Operating out of a manufacturing facility in Palmdale, Calif., a Navy and Northrop Grumman flight test team conducted the 6.7-hour flight on October 15, a critical first step in preparing the aircraft to fly to a Navy facility in Maryland next month.
Curtiss-Wright is a valued partner on the Triton program, providing two critical onboard flight subsystems. Curtiss-Wright supplies the Integrated Mission Management Computer (IMMC) that controls the aircraft’s flight, and the Advanced Mission Management System (AMMS) that communicates with onboard sensors and relays information to the ground station.
"For over fifteen years, Curtiss-Wright has had the privilege of partnering with Northrop Grumman to provide advanced computer subsystems that serve on their history-making unmanned systems,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense Solutions. "We are especially proud to continue this legacy as a valued partner, supporting the exciting MQ-4C Triton. We congratulate Northrop Grumman on the outstanding success of the second aircraft’s first flight.”
Triton will provide the U.S. Navy with persistent maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance coverage, to protect the fleet and to provide the capability to detect, track, classify, and identify maritime and littoral targets.
