Curtiss-Wright Selected to Provide Rugged Airborne Mission Computer for Prime Contractor’s Defense Program
ASHBURN, Va. – August 30, 2017 -- Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced that it was selected to provide a fully integrated rugged airborne mission computer system by a defense program. The High Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC) mission computer features Curtiss-Wright’s industry leading open architecture COTS modules, including the CHAMP-XD2M digital signal processor module, VPX6-1959 single board computer, and VPX6-684 gigabit Ethernet switch & router card. In addition the system will feature industry-leading NVIDIA® GPU-based processing and MIL-STD-1553 data communications. The initial contract is valued at $13 million. The potential lifetime value of the contract is estimated at $25 million. Under the contract, development, which commenced in August 2016, will continue until January 2018, with the production phase beginning shortly after.
