Luxell offers 1/4 VGA sunlight-readable flat-panel display

Designers at Luxell Technologies Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario, are offering a new model to their line of Luxell BlackLite electroluminescent displays for avionics, defense, and space applications. The Model LX—320x240.80 1/4 VGA display uses the so-called "Black Layer" technology to reduce reflection and improve contract and clarity of characters and graphics in any light condition, and to minimize washout when users view the display in direct sunlight. The viewing angle of the display is more than 160 degrees off any axis, operates in temperatures between zero and 55 degrees Celsius — with -40 to 70 C models available — and rugged enough construction to withstand shock and vibration in harsh environments. Its display area is 4 by 3 inches in a matrix of 320 by 240 pixels.
