Dynatem Inc. in Mission Viejo, Calif., is offering a 10-gigabit Ethernet-over-copper PCI-X (64 bit at 133 MHz) network interface card (NIC) for distances as far as 10 meters. The MAX Copper (MaxCu) single-port offers Ethernet performance to enable datacenters to use low-cost CAT5e/CAT6 cabling for 10-gigabit Ethernet stacking and short-reach links (CAT5e and CAT6). Until now, only fiber-optic 10-gigabit Ethernet NIC solutions existed, company officials say. The Dynatem MAX Copper/10-gigabit Ethernet server adapter enables fast Ethernet connectivity at approximately half the cost and half the power consumption of its fiber-optic short-reach-based relatives. The Dynatem MaxCu/10-gigabit Ethernet server adapter uses an integrated PCI-X Intel 82597EX 133 MHz/64-bit 10-gigabit Ethernet controller coupled with a copper PHY from Vativ Technologies. The MAX Copper NIC is datacenter applications. For more information contact Dynatem online at www.dynatem.com.
