Engineers at the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) at China Lake Naval Air Station, Calif., needed development software that could bring together different parts of a project quickly. They liked what they saw in the Vista/Mesa application from Mesa Systems Guild Inc. in Warwick, R.I.

"We were looking at trying to develop a system in-house, but saw that Mesa had one available off-the-shelf, which was just what we wanted," says Keith Ray, an engineer at the software proving office at NAWC.

The web technology from Mesa enables Ray and his fellow engineers to integrate various pieces of data from different projects and also archives its database, he says.

Mesa/Vista is an integrated project data management tool that enables an organization to automate the way it develops systems and products. The tool uses web-based technology to deliver project information for access using a Java-enabled browser. It also provides a flexible framework that can be tailored to support any system development process or standard operating procedure, and to integrate any legacy project data. - J.M.
