ROME, 4 Nov. 2011. Engineers at Italtel, a developer and integrator of products and services for IP/NGN Networks, have designed and configured two next-generation data centers for the Italian Army in Rome and Padua. Cisco provided the switching and computing technology for the two data centers, which are called NCVs or nodes of concentration and virtualization.
NCVs enable the Italian Army to update the technology infrastructure, thereby exploiting the benefits of cloud computing in consolidating and virtualizing computer applications, while ensuring the security, privacy, and confidentiality of the data processed.
The consolidation of services in the NCV data centers will streamline the technology infrastructure within the Army, reducing physical servers and network complexity.
“The paradigm of Cloud Computing reinforced with next-generation IP networks, which can ensure safety and reliability of access, management, and virtualization, is one of the key pieces of the path of innovation proposed by Italtel to businesses and government agencies," says Stefano Pileri, Italtel CEO.
