MCLEAN, Va., 14 March 2008. iMapData Inc. participated in a demonstration to reinforce the nation's integrated response capabilities in the event of disasters, emergencies, and terrorist activities. The demonstration was organized by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Office of National Capital Region Coordination (NCRC) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Held March 6, Winter Blast simulated mass-casualty events in Philadelphia, Pa.; Washington, D.C.; and San Antonio, Texas. The focus was on electronically validating Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 interoperable credentials issued from multiple jurisdictions. The targeted population included Federal and Mutual Aid healthcare, emergency support function, and essential government emergency response officials.
During the demonstration, iMapData provided officials at 13 emergency operations centers (EOCs) with near real-time human resource situational awareness, displaying critical data in interactive maps and reports.
"We are honored to be the only provider of real-time situational awareness and geospatial data invited to participate in this demonstration," says Larry DeFranco, president and CEO of iMapData. "If disaster strikes, we are proud that our service can help ensure that credentialed healthcare providers can quickly and effectively begin helping those in need."
