VANCOUVER, B.C., 1 Feb. 2008.Norsat International Inc., a provider of intelligent satellite solutions, has been awarded approximately $1.1 million in contracts by the Republic of Ireland's Department of Defence to provide satellite system equipment, satellite capacity, training, and network services for the Irish Defence Forces' peacekeeping mission to Chad. All dollar amounts are expressed in Canadian dollars.

Norsat's hardware and service bundle will provide the Irish Defence Forces' 400 troops, who will be part of a 3,700 member EU peacekeeping force, with all of the elements necessary to establish broadband communication in the most remote areas of Chad.
Norsat recognized approximately half of the revenue from the contracts in the Company's fourth quarter of fiscal 2007, with the remaining revenue to be recognized over the next twelve months. The DoD has the option to renew the services portion of the agreement after one year.
