CFM receives over $1 billion in engine sales at Farnborough today

FARNBOROUGH, England, 11 July 2012. CFM International, a supplier of aircraft engines, received over $1 billion in sales today for three different engine types. The sales came from Aviation Capital Group, Avolon and Juneyao and will be used on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, Next-Generation 737 aircraft, A321 aircraft and A320neo aircraft. Eighteen LEAP-1A engines were ordered by Aviation Capital Group in an order valued at $450 at list price. These engines will be powering 18 Airbus A320neo aircraft that are part of a 30-airplane purchase announced in November 2011.

Five CFM56-5B engines were ordered by Juneyao Airlines in China, for a value of over $100 million at list price. These engines will be used to power Airbus A321 aircraft. Delivers for this order will begin in 2013.

In addition to those sales, Avolon announced that it will order 15 LEAP-1B engines and 10 CFM56-7BE engines. These engines will be used in Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and Next-Generation 737 aircraft respectively. Avolon already uses CFM engines on 56 aircraft.

Leap-1B engines were created by CFM as part of a six-year collaboration effort with Boeing, and is the exclusive engine for the new 737 variant. CFM engines have been the sole powerplant for all 737 aircraft sold since 1981.
