Crane to provide Antiskid Carbon Brake Control on U.S. Air Force C-130 Fleet

BURBANK, Calif., 15 Oct. 2010. Crane Aerospace & Electronics won a contract from Hill Air Force Base to provide an improved Antiskid Brake Control System for the U.S. Air Force fleet of C-130E/H model transport aircraft. The award is part of the Air Force C-130 Wheel and Brake Systems Improvement program, which will bring improved performance and commonality across the organization’s entire C-130 fleet.

Crane’s Antiskid Brake Control complements new Wheel and Carbon Brakes being provided to the Air Force by Goodrich Corp. The program is expected to generate more than $40 million in revenue for Crane Aerospace & Electronics over the life of the program.

Crane’s C-130 Antiskid Brake Control system supports Air Force objectives of providing a more efficient deceleration profile and extending tire wear. The Crane digital Antiskid Brake Control provides better than 90 percent braking efficiency and helps reduce life-cycle costs by eliminating analog parts obsolescence found in current C-130 brake control components. The system also includes a Visual Fault Display that enables rapid fault isolation and facilitates streamlined maintenance actions.
