LAS VEGAS, 17 April 2007. Quest Software Inc. executives announced that IT consultants at Avion Inc. rely on Quest's Toad for Oracle when they manage database performance issues for the U.S. Army.
Avion, located in Huntsville, Alabama, provides comprehensive lifecycle management services to meet the engineering, logistics and analytical needs of the U.S. Army aviation community. In recent years, Avion was assigned to several critical projects for the U.S. Army, including two that involved Oracle database issues not easily resolvable using native database development tools.
"The U.S. Army's previous contractor had developed a quality control system using Oracle Forms and Reports," said Robert Koehn, senior programmer at Avion. "The system was unreliable, returning incorrect data, which was unacceptable considering the critical nature of the system. Using Toad, we were able to salvage a multi-million dollar investment in a matter of months. Because they now know the data is reliable, the number of system users increased dramatically. Now accurate data on new and used aviation parts is easily accessible, improving the safety of Army equipment and personnel."
By using Toad for Oracle, Koehn was also able to increase productivity. Army personnel were no longer forced to spend hours or days going through labor-intensive manual processes to track down vital information required for daily operations to run smoothly, safely and efficiently. "I've yet to find another tool that increases my productivity like Toad," added Koehn.
Quest's Toad for Oracle enables developers to implement database development best practices through increased automation and reporting, ensuring application code is of the highest quality and performance prior to deployment. The newest version, Toad 9.0 for Oracle, provides high-level reports that help developers, database administrators (DBAs), analysts and IT management objectively verify coding practices and standards. Toad 9.0 also automates code reviews, optimizes SQL statements and offers scalable QA testing.
"We developed Toad 9.0 for Oracle using Quest's deep database expertise and the feedback of thousands of Toad customers like Avion," said Billy Bosworth, director of product management, Quest Software. "With the enhanced features in Toad, we're confident that Avion will continue to find even more uses for the product they've come to rely on. We're excited to continue our partnership with Avion, and look forward to many more successful projects."
Toad for Oracle version 9.0 was unveiled at Oracle Open World 2006 simultaneously with Toad World, Quest's newest online community portal for Toad users. Toad World includes community interaction, expert blogs, podcasts, user forums, tips and tricks, and more. Currently Toad World is offering an exclusive download of Quest® Code Tester for Oracle, the new unit testing product for Oracle developers.
