The Weather Company launches AI-powered weather data platform for airline dispatchers
ATLANTA - The Weather Company in Brookhaven, Ga., has introduced Maverick Dispatch, a new software platform designed to help airline dispatchers manage weather-related challenges and improve operational efficiency. The cloud-based tool integrates real-time weather data with artificial intelligence (AI) to support faster, more informed decision-making during flight operations.
Maverick Dispatch is already in use by Breeze Airways and Horizon Air, both of which report early operational benefits.
"In today's complex aviation environment, dispatchers are overwhelmed with data but starved for actionable intelligence," said Sheri Bachstein, president of The Weather Company. "While others are reducing their spend in aviation technology, we're accelerating efforts. Maverick Dispatch transforms fragmented data streams into clear, contextual insights that enable faster, more informed decision-making."
AI advantages
The platform uses The Weather Company's proprietary Global High-Resolution Atmospheric Forecasting (GRAF) system to deliver advanced weather visualization. It also incorporates predictive analytics for risks such as convective storms near airports, capacity challenges, and taxi-time delays. Its AI-driven tools aim to help airlines anticipate operational disruptions and recover more quickly.
"The reduced alert fatigue and contextual highlighting of critical information means our team spends less time hunting for data and more time making smart decisions that benefit our Guests," said Garrett Urry, manager of flight dispatch at Breeze Airways.
Maverick Dispatch's unified cloud architecture ensures consistent access for dispatch teams and allows for rapid software updates. The system also includes intelligent alert management and integrated mapping designed to reduce the cognitive load on users.
Horizon Air, a regional carrier for Alaska Air Group, has also adopted Maverick Dispatch. "In an environment where seconds count, Maverick Dispatch is streamlining and simplifying flight tracking and weather awareness on the dispatch desk," said Kenneth McNaught, dispatch manager at Horizon Air.
The Weather Company, which supports 25,000 flights daily, said its latest platform builds on nearly three decades of aviation forecasting experience. The company serves most North American airlines and many operators globally.
