Thick-film shunt resistors for power and current monitoring in battery protection introduced by ROHM
KYOTO, Japan – ROHM Semiconductor in Kyoto, Japan, is introducing the LTR100L thick-film shunt resistors for industrial applications like factory automation, motor peripheral circuits, and power supplies to detect current in battery protection and motor drive circuits.
The LTR100L series offers rated power of four Watts by revising resistor materials and applying terminal temperature derating to make them suitable for current detection in motor control and overcurrent protection circuits for industrial and consumer applications.
These devices measure 0.12 inches by 0.25 inches. Optimization of the element structure delivers temperature good coefficient of resistance (TCR) characteristics among thick-film shunt resistors, and are not easily affected by temperature.
Samples of these power resistors for industrial applications are available from one piece from online distributors DigiKey, Mouser, and Farnell. A variety of content and tools useful for design, such as application notes, are available on ROHM's website. Simulation Models will also be released.
